History / Legislation
The POSLEC SETA (Police, Private Security, Legal, Correctional Services and Justice Sector Education and Training Authority) and DIDTETA (Diplomacy, Intelligence, Defence and Trade Education and Training Authority) have amalgamated and a new SETA, called SASSETA (Safety and Security SETA), was formed on 1 July 2005. The board of SASSETA, as a new organisation, felt it necessary to define the common strategy for new organisation. This report summarises the outcome of a strategic planning workshop held by the SASSETA Board in August 2005 aimed at crafting a corporate strategy for the organisation. The Poslec SETA and DIDTETA were one of the 25 SETAs established on 20 March 2000 in terms of section 9(1) of the Skills Development Act (Act 97 of 1998).
